Bubble.y

We began this project by scanning (only) one object: a bubble module. Its curved form and translucency inflect reflections of objects it captures. This particular property of the object made us wonder if we could enhance the inflection further by repeating and manipulating the exterior and the opacity of the scanned bubble.

The bubbles were arranged according to their hue and saturation diagonally and spun 360 degrees. Through this simple gesture of rotation, materials of each bubble started to interact with one another and form another pattern. We then inserted a mirror tube in the center to further reflect and deflect the bubbles’ materiality to again form another pattern.
