Coffee, Cream & Spray Foam

Using spray foam as the mediator between the physical and digital, the liquid properties of milk and coffee in project 2.1 are further investigated. The material behavior of liquid as a non-static medium presents itself in foam as it mimics the movement and expansion in solid liquids. Other textural and visual qualities are preserved by piling the foam, using it as a binder between two wood pieces, and dripping through a paper mesh. This dripping is tested in two ways: a controlled object that eventually swells into airy pockets and a free object that smears and settles in one spot.

These processes are then captured in animation to represent the non-static character of liquid. The physical model translates into the digital and vice versa.
