Coffee and Cream

Parting from a mutual love of coffee, we set out to explore how 3D scanning and manipulating this liquid could produce an interesting space. We scanned spilled coffee and cream and took the messy outline shape of those spills and extruded them to become wall surfaces. Scaling up that extrusion into a 10' surface created an interesting wall that we interpreted as a pavilion. These walls were then mapped with the texture and different shades of brown of the coffee spill. Then, the outline shape extrusion of the cream spill was scaled down and used as columns that filter the access to the interior of the pavilion. Finally, the frothy cream texture was scaled up and used as a comfy surface for people to walk, or sit, on.
