The Work of Art in the Age of photogrammetry Reproduction
This set of 3d scanned objects and spaces – a handmade papier-mâché sculpture, a 3d printed model displayed on a coffee table, and a room full of 3d printers - explores the aura of a work of art in the age of 3D scanning and 3D printing. While the aura of the original object/space is lost through the process of 3d scanning, new aura is produced in the reinterpretation. Thus, 3d printing and 3d scanning become a never-ending regenerative process of aura reproduction, as any object can be 3d printed and then 3d scanned and then 3d printed. Each “copy” of the original object attains a new aura in the process.
